Nisha: Spirit Blade

This is my Senior Portfolio 1 final project of Fall 2020. This is also my first ever hand-painted character model. I have learned a lot about hand-painted texturing throughout this whole process thanks to Jeff Parrot and Neal Wojahn at LCAD, two incredible instructors and artists in the gaming industry.

My aim was to capture a World of Warcraft style similar to Pandaria, but more of a Japanese look than Chinese. I heavily focused on making the armor resemble Shinto Torii shrine gates since this character is meant to be a spiritual swordsman. I chose the snow leopard look because first of all, there isn't a playable feline race in WoW currently, and second is because of the spiritual legends of the snow leopard, despite the fact that snow leopards are not native to Japan.

Thank you to everyone who was involved with critique and helping me to learn more not just on texturing, but also on research for the outfit and raising my spirits when I was struggling.
